01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water

03 - Scatter fresh coconut meat or sprinkle shredded coconut over the frozen blue layer. Gently pour coconut water to fill the next third of each compartment. Freeze for another hour, until firm.
04 - Add chopped strawberries on top, then fill compartments to the top with strawberry or cranberry juice. Freeze until thoroughly solid, about 2 hours.
05 - Remove completed ice cubes from tray. Add to beverages such as lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails for a festive appearance.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Each cube turns plain sips into little fireworks—try sneaking one into your friend’s fizzy drink for an instant grin.
  • It’s as easy as a craft project, but edible and impressive every time you bring them out.
02 -
  • If you rush the layers, they’ll bleed, leaving you with a purple mess instead of crisp colors.
  • Let the cubes sit out one minute before unmolding, or you’ll end up prying and breaking them apart like I did the first time.
03 -
  • Use a small pitcher with a spout to pour juice—it saves on messy countertop cleanups.
  • If you want a crystal-clear white, filter your coconut water or use very fine shredded coconut.
