Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Peeps (Printable)

Soft marshmallow treats coated in creamy chocolate with optional festive decorations.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Marshmallow Peeps

01 - 12 marshmallow Peeps (any color or shape)

→ Chocolate Coating

02 - 7 oz semisweet or milk chocolate, chopped

→ Optional Decorations

03 - 2 tbsp sprinkles, crushed nuts, or colored sugar

# How-To Steps:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
02 - Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Melt using a microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, or over a double boiler until smooth.
03 - Holding each Peep by the base or using a skewer, dip it into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip off.
04 - Place the coated Peep on the prepared baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles or other decorations if desired.
05 - Repeat with all remaining Peeps.
06 - Chill the tray in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
07 - Store in an airtight container at cool room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Takes those overly sweet marshmallow treats and transforms them into something surprisingly sophisticated
  • The chocolate balances the sugar perfectly, creating that ideal sweet-bitter contrast we all secretly crave
  • Ready in under thirty minutes but looks like you bought them from a fancy chocolatier
02 -
  • Even a tiny drop of water will seize your chocolate into a grainy, unfixable mess, so keep your equipment completely dry
  • If the chocolate starts to thicken while you're dipping, add one teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to smooth it out again
03 -
  • Use a fork to lift dipped Peeps from the chocolate instead of your fingers to avoid visible fingerprints and uneven melting
  • If the chocolate coats too thickly, tap the fork gently against the bowl rim to encourage excess to drip away
